International Day of Education 2025: the Role of Education in a Changing World
This year the day is commemorated under the theme: “AI and Education: Human Agency in an Automated World.” This theme invites us to explore the intersection of artificial intelligence and education, focusing on maintaining human agency and critical thinking in an increasingly automated society.
This observance is closely aligned with the fundamental right to education, as articulated in Article 26 of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, which advocates for free and compulsory elementary education for all children, ensuring that education is accessible to every person, regardless of their background. Additionally, this day highlights The Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC), adopted in 1989, which emphasises the need for countries to provide access to higher education for all young people, promoting their development and future opportunities.
JET Education Services recognises the transformative potential of technology in education and has integrated EdTech and Artificial Intelligence (AI) into its programmes to address the specific challenges faced by learners in previously disadvantaged schools.
