Welcome Mororiseng Maapola CA(SA), JET Education Services’ new Chief Financial Officer

We’re excited to announce that Mororiseng Maapola, a.k.a Rori, is joining JET Education Services (JET) as our new Chief Financial Officer (CFO).

Maapola comes from the community development and education sector, working directly with and for Junior Achievement South Africa as a Finance Director. She completed her articles at Deloitte, with additional three months of international secondment to Rochester City, New York Upstate in 2012. She has also worked at Absa Capital, and the Nuclear Energy Corporation of South Africa (Necsa) where she had early exposure to Audit and Risk Committees of the Necsa Group Board.

She is passionate about education and rural development - inspired by her upbringing in rural Limpopo, at Ga-Chuene Maratapelo. In 2017, Maapola decided to follow her heart, and joined the Education Sector through the South African Institute for Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and Department of Higher Education & Training (DHET) Nation Building Project, as the CFO at the Vuselela TVET College based in the North West, Klerksdorp.

She looks forward to continuing to serve our communities through the impact made by JET in the education sector. Maapola’s vision for JET as the CFO is to ensure that project delivery is maximised through efficient and more automated financial systems. She aims to use her expertise in finance and technology to contribute to JET’s new strategic plan – Infinity and Beyond – to support the organisation in reaching its strategy plans in particular: diversification of income streams and market opportunities, and digitalisation as a business imperative for growth and sustainability.

“I’m humbled and excited to be part of a relevant organisation like JET and I’ll be working with people that care enough about the impact of the work they do and the impact they have in society. I look forward to the challenges and growth that lie ahead,” says Maapola.

The year 2022 has been an important year for JET – the organisation is celebrating its 30th anniversary and embracing a new slogan “Think education. Think JET”. We asked Maapola what this meant to her. Maapola firmly believes that “we need to do more work in educating our people about the importance of education, so they can understand that with education, one is equipped with a lifetime ability to solve problems, to think independently and to develop solutions that address the socio-economic needs – permanently.”

We're thrilled to have Maapola join our leadership team to help take us into our next phase of growth. Welcome, Rori Maapola!

Maapola commences her new role on the 1st of July 2022.
