Jennifer Shindler

Jennifer holds a Masters Degree in Education in Education Economics, Management, Policy and Planning. She has thirty years of experience in education research, education management information systems, survey development, data analysis, education indicator and policy analysis and project management. Jennifer has researched and written numerous articles on education and has participated in many research and evaluation projects. She has extensive knowledge of South African education issues. Her responsibilities at Jet include:

• Managing the data and statistics unit and its research projects
• Designing, developing and managing surveys
• Collecting and analysing various education databases for education data and indicators
• Conducting longitudinal studies as well as  tracer studies
• Managing data capturing and editing for JET projects

Examples of projects she has worked on (among others):

• Tracer survey of TVET college graduates and non-graduates in 2015
• Management and analysis of the baseline survey of 18 000 students at selected TVET colleges in 2010
• Tracer study of Funza Lushaka graduates and analysis of data, interviews and report writing for an evaluation of the Department of Basic Education’s Funza Lushaka Bursary Programme (commissioned by the Department of Planning Monitoring and Evaluation in the Presidency)
• Trend analyses of matric results
• Analysis of National School Effectiveness Study data and writing of reports (a longitudinal study)
• Analysis of evaluation data for the Western Cape Literacy/Numeracy project and writing of reports
• Report on macro-indicators in education 2011 for the Department of Basic Education
