Research services
JET’s competence is built around a value chain consisting of research, implementation and monitoring and evaluation.
The JET research agenda is driven by the need to improve learning and teaching outcomes, particularly in South Africa. JET has a well-established reputation in education research, having managed and conducted a number of large-scale research and evaluation projects. JET has experience in using a range of methodologies, which are adapted to meet client needs. Examples of projects undertaken include the National School Effectiveness Study, which led to publishing the book, Creating Effective Schools, a tracer study of TVET college graduates, as well as using error analysis in assessment, with particular reference to the Annual National Assessments. JET also initiates its own research projects, for example, the Initial Teacher Education Research Project (ITERP) a multi-year project that investigated the preparation of teachers by South African universities. Recently, JET extended its scope to include international research projects and has contributed to work on the Pan-Commonwealth Standards Framework for Teachers and School Leaders, as well as UNESCO research on the status of Global Citizenship Education. Specialised research functions in which JET has experience include assessment, test development, surveys and data management.
Our team has extensive research experience using a range of methodologies.
