JET has a vacancy for a Technology Research Officer at our Johannesburg office

An exciting opportunity is available for a young person with both technical and research backgrounds to manage JET’s online platforms and contribute to coordinating research in the area of educational technology.

Young people with a combination of an activist orientation together with a research inclination will be a good fit for the JET culture.

This is a full-time position which seeks the services of a solution orientated thinker, preferably with some work experience (1-2 years) who has the following criteria for eligibility

• Qualification with majors in education or education related subjects with some experience in technology, or a postgraduate qualification with majors in information technology (IT) or IT related subjects with some experience in education and systems analysis
• Must have at least completed a first degree
• Demonstrable research aptitude (published research will be an advantage)
• Understanding of the education technology environment
• Previous work experience (preferred)
• Project management experience (preferred)
• Proficient in English (good written and verbal communication)

 

Some of the basic job requirements include (but not limited to):

  • Support JET project managers by providing technical support at a level appropriate to his/her qualifications and experience
  • Oversee JET’s online Project Implementation Management System (PIMS) with a key focus on the following duties:
  • Gather and communicate system requirements to the systems developer
  • Analyze the logic of the system and see how it can be improved
  • Test new system functions for any bugs or anomalies
  • Onboard new teams/projects on the system and make sure that the newly onboarded teams know how to use the system, this would include facilitating training sessions, writing knowledge base articles and providing system support

• Conduct research under supervision
• Contribute to research papers, reports and thought pieces
• Assist with presentations and report writing
