Justin Du Toit

Justin Du Toit joined the JET team as Programme Manager of the Anglo-American South Africa Education Programme (AASA) in March 2023. He has more than a decade of management and research experience in the private, public and academic sectors. Justin’s work in academia started in 2020 when he was appointed Research and Centre Manager of the DSI-NRF Centre of Excellence in Human Development. His public service career began in 2015 as Deputy Director of Research in the Private Office of then Deputy President Cyril Ramaphosa and continued to work with his Principal when he became President of the Republic of South Africa. He spent five years in the private sector, where he conceptualised, implemented, and managed projects which varied in scope, nature, and clientele: these included, inter alia, projects focused on socio-economic profiling and assessments, monitoring and evaluation of food security and school-based and community programmes, trade and economics, health, security and policing.

Justin’s interests include evidence-based and impactful work, especially among the disadvantaged and most vulnerable members within our society. He is an avid runner and ultra-marathoner, and enjoys spending time with his two fur babies, Daeny and Mason.
