One key area of focus is the development and implementation of innovative EdTech platforms. These platforms provide learners with interactive and engaging mathematics lessons, tailored to their individual learning paces and styles. Through the use of gamification, simulations and virtual manipulatives, learners are able to grasp complex mathematical concepts more easily and develop a deeper understanding of the subject matter.
Furthermore, JET is exploring the application of AI to support mathematics instruction. AI-powered tools can analyse learner data to identify areas of strength and weakness, allowing teachers to provide targeted support and remediation. Intelligent tutoring systems can offer personalised guidance and practice exercises, freeing up teachers to focus on more complex problem-solving and critical thinking skills. By leveraging AI, JET aims to create a more equitable learning environment where all learners have access to high-quality mathematics education.
JET, in partnership with Eduten, is rolling out an AI Maths programme in schools in KwaZulu-Natal, Limpopo and the Northern Cape to ensure maximum impact. Eduten is an AI-based gamified digital maths learning platform used in many countries since 2017. In 2022, Eduten was the recipient of the first UNICEF EdTech Award, winning over 140 other applications. Backed by 15 years of university research, Eduten uses AI to provide automated learning analytics to teachers to better understand and monitor student learning progress.
JET provides comprehensive teacher training and support to effectively integrate technologies such as Eduten into the classroom. By combining traditional teaching methods with such cutting-edge technology, JET is empowering learners in previously disadvantaged schools to achieve their full potential in mathematics.
