Accountability and trust: Two sides of the same coin?

JET has been working with researchers from the London Institute of Education (IoE) at University College London (UC) and the UK Open University (OU) on a four-year research project that focuses on trust, capacity and accountability to improve learning outcomes in South Africa. A paper based on the study has just been published in the Journal of Educational Change. The paper uses South African examples to discuss the relationship between trust and accountability and the role of trust in promoting effective accountability which in turn can enable improvement.
