Community Warrior Woman Award Winner 2022

Our very own JETsetter, Sunet Anderson received the National Community Warrior Woman award from the South African Council for Business Women (SACBW).

JET is proud of Sunet, she's been an inspiration and instrumental in ensuring that the Jala Peo project continues to be a great success in the West Coast.

Well done on this achievement!

SACBW had their Business Woman of the Year Awards Gala function on 22 October 2022 in Mossel Bay. They announced the winner of the Community Warrior Woman Category for 2022 as Sunet Anderson.

"Sunet, thank you for your determination and love for your community – it is truly something we can all aspire to. We look forward to seeing this important initiative grow from strength to strength! Sunet Anderson is the project coordinator for the Jala Peo Food School Garden Initiative. The initiative focuses on food garden projects, specifically along the West Coast in the harsh climate of the Matzikama region. Currently, the project is running in 25 schools in the area with the aim of helping schools with a sustainable food programme, teaching the children and the communities about growing their own food, nutrition as well as food preparation."

“The Department of Agriculture has played a significant role in building human capacity and skills through training gardeners, teachers and community members in soil preparation and vegetable production. The Department of Health contributed by presenting workshops on nutrition to learners, community members and food handlers in the National School Nutrition Programme, using the vegetables from school food gardens to prepare meals for learners,” says Anderson.
