New publication: Digital Governance Advisory Note
The post-secondary education and training (PSET) sector is complex and involves a diverse range of role-players and stakeholders. JET Education Services and the Manufacturing, Engineering and Related Services Sector Education and Training Authority (merSETA), have published a 'Digital Governance Advisory Note' by Paul G. West and Christopher J. Beukes to explore various forms of governance most suitable to a digital platform in the South African context.
This is the third output of the JET and merSETA PSET CLOUD project, following after the Unlocking the Power of Data publication by Rooksana Rajab, Sebolelo Nomvete, More Manda and James Keevy published in November 2020 as well as the Interoperable Data Systems publication by Kelly Shiohira and Barbara Dale-Jones published in November 2019.
PSET data is governed by extensive legislation and many of the stakeholders are sceptical about sharing their data pools, due to, amongst other reasons, perceived loss of autonomy. While there is currently a high level of scepticism, many of the stakeholders have expressed interest in collaborating but require clarity on how the service will operate, be governed and ‘owned’.
