JET celebrates achievement in psychometric testing
JET Education Services marks a significant achievement in psychometric testing and mathematics assessment for early learners in South Africa and congratulates Roelien Herholdt, JET Executive Manager: Research and Data Ecosystem, who contributed significantly to the project. The Marko-D SA, a multilingual conceptual mathematics test for Grades R and 1, has been published by MindMuzik and is for use by practitioners and researchers in the fields of psychometric testing and assessment. The test includes four tests in Afrikaans, English, Sesotho, and isiZulu, with a fifth in development for Sepedi. The test draws heavily on the neurological hierarchical conceptual development of mathematics in the brain between ages 4 and 8.
“The development took five years, followed by two more years for publication. The Marko-D SA is the only conceptual mathematics test available in multiple languages with South African benchmarks and norms. These tests are not mere translations; each has been carefully adapted for its language and context. We’re excited to be part of this initiative,” says Roelien.
Don’t miss the opportunity to receive training not only on the test but also on the interventions and remedial actions associated with each cognitive level of the Marko-D. Prof Dr Annemarie Stretmann the co-author of the original conceptual theory and the first tests in German will be conducting some of the training.
Teachers (Pre-school and Primary), Psychologists, Psychometrists, Registered Counsellors, and students are invited to the MARKO-D SA workshop training on 4–5 April 2025 in Pretoria. For more details, email training@mindmuzik.com.
