National Women’s Day 2023

This Women’s Month, we honour and remember the women who have paved the way for future generations. We acknowledge their courage, determination, and commitment to creating a more equitable society. We believe that every girl and woman deserves access to quality education.

Every year, in August, our country marks Women’s Month, by paying tribute to the more than 20 000 women who marched to the Union Buildings on 9 August 1956.

JET Education Services commemorates the day by recognising the important contributions that women made and continue to make.

We believe in promoting gender equality, we highlight the value of investing in girls’ education. In a 2016 publication, What Works in Girls’ Education: Evidence for the World's Best Investment, Gene B. Sperling and Rebecca Winthrop cite notable impacts on economics, health, and overall quality of life as a result of making education more accessible to girls around the world.

Too many girls and women are still held back by social norms and traditional school practices influencing their educational right and opportunities. ‘Her education, our future’ is UNESCO's new drive to accelerate action for girls' and women's education by leveraging political and financial commitments, as well as leadership for women and girls.
