New readings on literacy and reading
The field of literacy and reading has over the last half century been a scene of controversy and debate, particularly in the English speaking world. Some of these debates are now on their way to being settled and this list of readings and presentations about literacy, reading (and numeracy and mathematical skills) includes some of the latest neuro-cognitive research on how people read, learn to read and how it impacts on their cognition.
This somewhat idiosyncratic collection of texts was compiled by John Aitchison in 2012.
Apart from being listed, all of these texts are downloadable in Adobe Acrobat format or as HTML. These text are intended to serve as a resource and readers are free to make a limited number of copies of these texts for non-profit educational purposes.
